The first edition of this event took place on Saturday 29th March in Yaoundé, with CRID as silver partner.

The theme of the forum was « Women scientists, technological innovations and intellectual property: levers and actions for inclusive growth and sustainable development in Cameroon ». CRID’s team which attended was made up of: Dr Lili Mbakop, Dr Gwladys Cheteug, Tatiane Assatse, Manyaka Raissa, Djuiffo Grâce, Maffo Claudine, Fleuriane Djondji and Sonia Ngannang-Fezeu.
Dr Estelle Mewamba, post-doctoral researcher at CRID, contributed to the first panel on the subject « Women, Science and Innovation: Architects of the Future ». During her talk, she encouraged women not to depend on men or their families, but to be bold enough to embark on research, draw up projects, approach funders, and give themselves the means to succeed. She also explained the importance of believing in one’s dreams and breaking down barriers. Women can excel in any field. « Have self-confidence, don’t be afraid to attempt », she emphasized.

During the tour of the stands, Mr Nkwentie Joseph, representative of the Governor of the Centre Region visited CRID’s stand. He was impressed to see the percentage of female scientists, and the efforts made by the top management to encourage women in research studies. Many students were drawn to CRID’s stand, arriving with several questions. Among the most common inquiries were those regarding CRID’s areas of activity and the opportunities for internships and mentoring.
The « Forum des Femmes Scientifiques du Cameroun» (FFSC) was organised by the association «LES GO SCIENCENT», founded by Aude Lekaboth, chemical engineer. The aim was to highlight the crucial role of women scientists in Cameroon’s sustainable development and to inspire the next generation of female leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). By participating in this event, CRID reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all women.
