CALL FOR APPLICATIONS LEAD EPIDEMIOLOGIST

Position: Lead Epidemiologist
Location: Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID), Yaoundé, Cameroon

Role Summary

CRID is seeking to fill a Lead Epidemiologist position to strengthen its capacity in implementing complex public health research initiatives. This role is essential for providing technical leadership in the design, coordination, and analysis of epidemiological studies, ensuring high-quality data collection and interpretation to inform disease control strategies. The Lead Epidemiologist will work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, including entomology, social science, and modeling, to integrate findings and guide evidence-based interventions. This position reflects CRID’s commitment to advancing research that supports national and global efforts in combating vector-borne diseases and improving public health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and execution of epidemiological studies, including large cluster randomized trials, based on agreed protocols.
Oversee all epidemiological fieldwork and data management operations.
Develop and supervise data collection protocols and quality control systems to ensure validity, reliability, and integrity of data.
Perform advanced statistical analyses using tools such as R, Stata, Python, or SAS to assess intervention impact.
Collaborate closely with national and international research partners.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Essential

PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in epidemiological research, with proven leadership in designing and conducting complex studies (e.g., cluster randomized trials, large-scale field studies).
Demonstrated expertise in malaria or other vector-borne disease research.
Strong proficiency in epidemiological data collection, analysis, and management.
Advanced skills in biostatistics and statistical software (R, GIS, Stata, SAS, SQL).
