We are seeking a Microscopist Technician as part of a five-year USAID-funded Systems to End the Malaria Burden through Meaningful Engagement-II (SEMBE II) Project in Cameroon. The project seeks to strengthen the capacity of the Cameroonian government and local stakeholders to positively respond to malaria prevention, control, and elimination priorities.
The microscopist will be in charge of preparing and analysing thick blood smears from participants recruited at the health facilities in the North Region. He will also be involved in training sessions aimed at reinforcing the capacity of lab technicians of the 15 health districts of the North region. He will work under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Parasitology and Microbiology, also acting as Study Director of the SEMBE II project at CRID.
Primary Responsibilities:
Specifically, the Microscopist will undertake the following activities:
- Master the standard operating procedures implemented in the framework of the SEMBE II project
- Prepare and be involved in the practical sessions of trainings on malaria diagnosis dedicated to lab technicians based at health facilities in the North region
- Ensure post training follow-up of lab technicians

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS QUALITIES NEEDED:
- Diploma for Medical Laboratory Scientist (Option: Medical Analysis);
- At least 3 years work experience related to malaria diagnosis;
- Good knowledge on malaria diagnosis
