Some fifteen researchers from CRID were selected to participate at the 6th Annual Conference of the Pan-African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA) in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Their valuable contributions ranged from oral presentations to booster talks and poster presentations which majored on their current projects at CRID; presentations which earned CRID the first three prizes from every category at the conference. The students reveal that the cash prize award is a stitch in time as it will help them meet pending needs. Best poster presentation bagged by Leon Mugenzi results from his project on the design of effective insecticide resistance management strategies to tackle the fast spread of Insecticide resistance which is a threat to the efficacy of major vector control tools. «The money will help me renew my residence permit seeing that I am a Rwandan residing in Cameroon” reveals Leon Amelie Wamba’s three minute PHD proposal on “Investigating the role of detoxification genes in insecticide resistance in Anopheles Funestus, major malaria vector across Africa” earned her first prize in the booster talk category. “This cash prize will help me sort out my personal needs. It came in at the right time” she says Other winners equally revealed that the cash prize will help them clear pending bills and boost their work as they continue to give in their best in finding new ways to fight infectious diseases. Magellan TCHOUAKUI came second in booster talk while Armel TEDJOU featured third in line.
