Background
Dr Mewamba is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases working on the Genetic diversity of candidate genes associated with gene drive and insecticide resistance since April 2024.Prior to her Post-doctoral appointment, she successfully defended her PhD titled: “Polymorphism of human genome in association with Schistosoma mansoni infections and cytokines levels in two schistosomiasis endemic areas of Cameroon.” in 2023 at the University of Dschang. During her PhD, Dr Mewamba was involved in several projects aiming to understand the epidemiology and control of schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis. She is a molecular parasitologist and genetics. Her research interests are expansive in the field of molecular parasitology, development of diagnostic methods, disease mapping and human genetics. She works mainly on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) including: schistosomiasis, soil-tranmsitted helminthiasis and Trypanosomiasis. |
