Dr. Achille Jérome BINYANG earned his Ph.D. in 2025 from the University of Yaoundé I, specializing in medical entomology. His doctoral research, conducted under the prestigious Wellcome Training Fellowship (109930/Z/15/Z), focused on the mechanisms of insecticide resistance and its impact on malaria transmission dynamics in Anopheles gambiae s.l. This work was supervised by a distinguished team: Prof. Flobert NJIOKOU (University of Yaoundé I), Prof. Josiane ETANG (University of Douala), and Prof. Charles WONDJI (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine). Prior to his Ph.D., Achille BINYANG completed a BSc in Zoology at the University of Dschang (2011) and an MSc in Applied Zoology at the University of Douala (2015). Dr. BINYANG’s professional journey includes formative internships at OCEAC (2013–2016), where he contributed to evaluating vector control tools such as LLINs and spatial repellents, and assessing insecticide susceptibility in malaria vectors. He joined the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID) in 2016, where he has since grown from a Ph.D. intern to a Research Fellow. His work continues to advance our understanding of vector biology and malaria transmission, with a strong focus on field entomology, vector control strategies, and molecular mechanisms of resistance.

Research – an overview of his research areas(s)
Dr. Binyang’s current research focuses on assessing the durability, physical integrity, and bioefficacy of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), with the goal of providing evidence-based guidance to the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) in selecting effective strategies for malaria vector control.
