With funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, we have established the African Consortium in Modelling for Effective Vector Control (ACoMVeC) comprising of several international research institutions. Our objective is to support capacity-building efforts for mathematical modelling across sub-Saharan Africa; with a specific focus on malaria vector control. We are therefore recruiting curious and highly motivated individuals who want to develop statistical and mathematical modelling methods for vector borne disease research. As a PhD Candidate you will explore the fascinating potential of mathematical modelling to support disease control programmes in a welcoming and proactive atmosphere, together with a diverse group of researchers…
REQUIREMENTS
- You already hold a Master’s degree in infectious disease epidemiology, population biology, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, computational Biology or a similarly quantitative discipline.
- You have a strong background in mathematics or statistics.
- You have experience in programming and data analysis.
- You have an interest in medicine and biology.
- You have excellent writing and communication skills.
- Prepared to work in one of the partner countries stated above
- Demonstrable commitment to long term career in Africa……..
