Since Saturday, March 4, 2023, CRID’s women have been in an ebullient mode which was expressed by a hiking exercise at Mount Eloumdem, Mendon, Yaoundé, Cameroon, to encourage women and girls to engage in sports activities as a vehicle for health promotion and prevention of NCDs.
This vivacious moment will continue on March 8, 2023, with a cultural event organized in honour of all CRID women especially those at the heart of scientific research. Other recreational and side events are on the agenda. We would have the pleasure to welcome Dr Jessy Goupeyou-Youmsi, PAMCA Women in Vector Control Regional Coordinator for West Africa, for a talk on the theme of this year’s event and the sharing of experience as a woman scientist. She will be accompanied by the biochemist Dr Kouamo Mersimine, Post-doc research fellow at CRID, and Mr. Dum-Buo Nnamdi, social scientist at CRID.
As a reminder, International Women’s Day is dedicated to the promotion of women’s rights in order to reduce inequalities between men and women. It is also an opportunity to reflect on progress made, call for change and to celebrate the acts of courage and determination of women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.
