Each of them will benefit from a one year financial support of around 8 to 9 million Fcfa.
During the morning of January 25, 2021, CRID (Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases) conference room hosted the 4th session of the Consultative Committee on vector borne diseases. The discussion panel was constituted of 11 stakeholders. They were members of diseases control programs, members of CRID and PIIVEC (Partnership to increase the impact of vector control), with PIIVEC as the fund provider.
Prof. Wondji Charles, Executive Director of CRID explained that this meeting is of irrefutable importance. According to him, this meeting aimed to select research projects whose results will help improve strategies in the fighting against diseases such as Malaria, Trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness, Arboviruses, Leishmaniasis, Filariasis and Schistosomiasis. Each member of the disease control programs has given his opinion for the improvement of the projects. At the end of this Consultative Committee Meeting, a total of 6 projects over 12 have been selected. Each of them will be funded.
The support fund related to each of these projects will amount between 10 to 12,000 UK pounds, approximately 8 to 9 million XAF Francs. The 6 operational research projects selected must be completed within 12 months. Such an initiative aims to obtain clear answers about majors issues on which programs are focus; in order to better orient political decisions
