Prof. Charles Wondji offering 200 protective face shields to Prof André Omgba Eballe, the Director of the Biyem-Assi district hospital
A delegation of the Centre for research in infectious diseases has handed over protection tools to the Biyem –Assi District Hospital staff, in order to roll back Covid -19.
On January 15, 2021, the Director of the Biyem–Assi District hospital and his staff received a delegation of 14 members of the Center for Research in Infectious diseases (CRID). The sanitary context in the country justify this visit. In fact, the fight against Covid-19 is still a public health concern. Even though the now exist a vaccine, mankind is not yet out of trouble.
The Executive Director of CRID, Prof. Charles Wondji handed over 200 protective face shields to Prof André Omgba Eballe, the Director of the Biyem-Assi district hospital. Prof. Charles Wondji added that « CRID in collaboration with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) acquired 3D printers which was used to print protective face shields to support staff of the Biyem-Assi District Hospital in the fight against Covid-19 ». With this action CRID is contributing to efforts geared towards rolling back Covid-19.
Recent developments point to the fact that, the virus is mutating. This implies the end of the Covid -19 pandemic is not close. Due to that, the right thing to do is to continue to respect barrier measures. This visit of CRID to the Biyem–Assi District hospital was an act of its public engagement activities in the fight against covid-19. A direct way of supporting the efforts done by government since the beginning of the crisis in March 2020.
The message sent by CRID this 15th January is clear, Covid-19 is still a menace for public health. No one is immune. The barrier measures are still very important for all.
