Yaoundé, April 18, 2024. The Executive Director of Unitaid Dr Philippe Duneton visited CRID, accompanied by Maxime Paquin (Media and Communication), Eva Nathanson (Administration) and Siafiatou Simpore (Africa delegation focal point of unitaid). Dr Philippe Duneton, came, saw and recognized CRID’s commitment to research and innovation in the fight against infectious diseases.
The visitors were happily welcomed by all staff. CRID’s Executive Director, Prof. Charles Wondji did a global presentation of CRID. Emphasizing on it vision, mission and strong partnerships built over years with Ministry Health and control programs, with Presidential Malaria Initiative (PMI), with Panafrican Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA), with Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC), with London School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), etc.). After presenting next generation facilities and equipment used at CRID, Prof Charles made a review of current projects and briefly commented the project currently under negotiation with Unitaid on special repellents to help reducing malaria burden in Africa.
Visitors were given the floor to speak they mind. Unitaid realy believe that investing innovation is really partner solution to address solution for fighting against malaria. Dr Duneton expressed the pleasure of the collaboration that exists between CRID and UNITAID. Prof. Charles Wondji reaffirmed CRID’s commitment to give its best to all the projects and challenges coming. After this Unitaid team embarked on a guided tour of CRID facilities including the state-of-the-art insectarium and various specialized laboratories.
