Position: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS Demographer
Location: CRID, Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Role Summary
For the need of its service, CRID is looking to recruit a Demographer. The ideal candidate will lead the design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of demographic data to inform malaria transmission dynamics and the effectiveness of vector control interventions. The role will focus on understanding how factors such as population structure, household composition, and migration patterns shape malaria risk and intervention outcomes. Working closely with epidemiologists, entomologists, social scientists, and modelers, the Demographer will provide critical insights for evidence-based decision-making by malaria control stakeholders and partners.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- At least 5 years’ experience in applied demography, preferably in low- and middle-income countries.
- Strong expertise in demographic survey design, population projections, and spatial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing primary demographic data in field settings.
- Proficiency in statistical and demographic analysis software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS, DemProj, Spectrum).
Desirable
- Experience with National Malaria Control Programmes, WHO, or donor-funded projects.
- Knowledge of equity analysis and targeting of vulnerable populations.
- Fluency in English and French.
