As the Deputy Executive Director of the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID), Prof Njiokou Flobert co-supervises the running of the organisation, more so in the absence of the Executive Director. He doubles as the Country Director for PIIVeC.
Prof Njiokou is a professor at the Faculty of Science at the University of Yaoundé I in Cameroon and has been working on schistosomiasis and the Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) in Cameroon and Central Africa for over twenty-five (25 years) His expertise spans from epidemiology to population genetics, vector biology and vector control. Since 2008, he has also been member of the IAEA CRP on vector-borne disease control using insect symbionts, where he focuses on the study of the relation between tsetse symbionts (Sodalis and Wolbachia) and trypanosome infections.
