This was thanks to Sonia Ngongang, PhD student, who made the best flash presentation during the first Day of the Young Scientific Community at the Centre Pasteur of Cameroon (CPC).
The awardees of the day
The first “Day of the Young Scientific Community” was held on December 17th 2024. It was dedicated to young members of the scientific community, with presentations on infectious diseases, vector-borne diseases and antimicrobial resistance. This initiative was led by CPC’s director, Dr. Mirdad Kazanji and implemented by Dr. Sara Irène Eyangoh, PhD, HDR, Scientific Director, alongside her team. For this first day, only young people enrolled in thesis research at various state universities (Yaoundé I, Douala, Buea, Dschang), and pursuing their work in CPC laboratories and those of the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID) were in the spotlight. They received advice and tips for succeeding in a research career. These interesting exchanges enabled participants to gain a better understanding of the profession of Researcher and the workings that surround it.

They earned a certificate of recognition and some financial support. As explained by Dr Sara Eyangoh, one of the competing presentations will receive a grant from the French Cooperation for an internship at a Pasteur Network institute. In addition to Sonia, CRID was strongly represented with a delegation made up of: Dr Armel Tedjou, Tessy Koko, Brice Natchema, Mae Ambadiang, Vanessa Ngannang, Grace Djuifo, Gadji Mahamat, Darus Tagne and Carlos Djoko.
