After five years of dedicated work, professionalism, and commitment, CRID has achieved a significant milestone by being certified and awarded “Silver Status” in compliance with the ARS 1651:2018 Good Financial Grant Practice-Requirements. This prestigious recognition signifies CRID’s ability to efficiently manage grants of substantial amounts. It not only enhances the organization’s visibility to funders but also increases its prospects of securing additional funding. Furthermore, it positions CRID as one of the leading research centres in Africa, further solidifying its reputation.
To attain this certification, the administration and finance staff at CRID undertook several crucial steps. They first improved existing policies and implemented absent policies with the assistance of an external consultant. Subsequently, CRID subscribed to the Good Financial Grant Practice (GFGP) silver assessment online platform. Following a pre-certification by the GFGP, CRID engaged the services of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), an audit firm, to assess the policies and their implementation. As a result of the audit, CRID was granted “Silver Status.”
The “Silver Status” applies to various practice areas of GFGP, including financial management, human resources, procurement, and governance, for a duration of two years. As part of its vision to save lives through quality research and capacity building in the field of tropical and infectious diseases, CRID continues to strive towards achieving “Gold Status” within the next two years.
Since its establishment in 2017 as an international nonprofit scientific research centre based in Cameroon, CRID has been dedicated to enhancing health conditions through cutting-edge research and capacity building for the next generation of African scientists. This achievement is a testament to the organization’s commitment to excellence and its significant contributions to the field of infectious diseases research.
