On May 1st, 2023, the Executive Director of CRID, Prof. Charles Wondji, celebrated Workers’ Day by offering a moment of festivity to the staff, researchers, and students at the CRID premises. The day was commemorated with an awards ceremony that recognized outstanding staff, researchers, and students based on their quality of work, attitudes in the workplace, and administrative criteria.
Yankoulo Caleb, an accountant at the CRID, was awarded the “Best Administrative and Financial Employee of the Year” for the second time, while Yvan Fotso received the “Best CRID Student of the Year 2022” award. Dr. Mugenzi Jean Leon, a postdoctoral researcher, was recognized as the “Best CRID Scientist of the Year 2022,” Wirsiy Charles received the “Best Support Staff of the Year 2022” award, and Watsop Iness was awarded the “Best Technician of the Year 2022”. In addition, all PhD students who defended their theses during the previous year received honorary scrolls. These students included Dr. Kouamo Mersimine, Dr. Tedjou Armel, Dr. Sougal Freitas, and Dr. Yougang Aurelie.
During his speech, Prof. Charles Wondji thanked his staff and collaborators. He encouraged them to redouble their efforts to bring CRID up to international standards of excellence and to continue saving lives through high-quality research. He emphasized the need to remain focused, work hard, and achieve even more.
